Custom Pet Oil Paintings

Pricing & Commission Process

PRICING

Below you will find an overview of my pet oil painting pricing. My pricing depends on three factors: the size of the painting, the number of pets in the painting, and the background style desired for the portrait. I am not limited to the sizes listed—If you are interested in a size not listed, simply contact me for a quote.

Domestic Shipping: Shipping within the United States is FREE at this time. If you are local to Perkasie, PA, you may pick up your painting instead if preferred.

International Shipping: Paintings can often be shipped internationally upon request. You will be responsible for ALL shipping costs. This includes, but is not limited to: postage, taxes, duties, and extra fees. These costs will vary depending on your location. You will not be charged for shipping when you place your initial order. Instead, the cost of postage must be paid separately prior to shipment of the painting.

Paying in Installments: Payments may be made in full, or in installments. If you are interested in paying in two payments, 1/2 of the total payment is due to reserve your spot on my schedule and the other 1/2 is due after you have approved of the finished painting, prior to shipment of the piece.

To break the total payment down into 3-4 payments, contact me and we will create a payment schedule that works for you.

Pennsylvania Residents: PA residents must pay an additional 6% on their order to be submitted as sales tax.

More than 3 subjects: If your desired painting has more than 3 subjects, please contact me for a quote.

Canvas and Wood Options

The prices above reflect the cost of paintings on stretched canvas— which I primarily work with. All paintings are painted on stretched canvas, unless it is specified that wood is preferred. There is no price difference between wood and canvas if the painting is 5”x7” or smaller. For larger pieces on wood, there is a small added cost dependent on your desired size— please contact me for a quote.

I offer both standard wrap (depth of 3/4”) and gallery wrap (depth of 1.5”) canvas options. We will discuss which option would be best for your painting (both options are priced the same). All paintings are shipped unframed. The sides of every canvas are cleanly painted a solid color that compliments the painting. If the painting is on wood, the sides of the panel will not be painted, but rather sealed and lightly stained. A wire can be added to the back of your painting for no extra cost, allowing you to hang without a frame if you prefer.

COMMISSION PROCESS

Please read each step in it’s entirety before contacting me and ordering your painting. If you have any questions, please email me at briannaleidyart@gmail.com and I will be in touch soon!

1. Gather your favorite photos of your pet(s)

Each portrait is painted by hand using the photo(s) provided to me as reference. The photos you provide do not necessarily need to be of the “highest quality”, although higher quality images are greatly preferred in order for me to best capture your pet’s unique qualities. Most images I reference for my pet portraits are taken using a phone and they usually work fantastic, especially if they were taken in a well-lit area, or outdoors. Photos taken at your pet’s eye level generally work the best for an oil portrait (treats work great for this!). Of course there are exceptions to this. I can work from a singular reference photo, or I can usually combine several photos for your painting, whether it is a single-pet portrait or a multi-pet portrait. More information on photo references can be found in step 3.

Please Note: I am able to omit most flaws found in your reference photos (ex. I can easily fix a glare caused by a camera flash, work with photos slightly out of focus, leave out a collar/harness within a painting). I cannot work with photos that are extremely blurred/severely out of focus or taken in very poor lighting. It is always helpful to provide additional photos of your pet if you can, especially if your main reference is not of the highest quality. This will allow me to piece together any missing or unclear details accurately for your painting.

2. Review my commission terms and conditions

My terms and conditions are a simple overview that outline everything you can expect throughout the commission process. Please read through it prior to moving forward.

3. Contact me

Use my contact form or send me an email directly to: Briannaleidyart@gmail.com. I will need several things!

  • If you need your painting by a certain date, please let me know. I may or may not be able to accommodate based on how many orders I currently have.

  • Please provide the reference photo(s) you have in mind for your painting. If you have an idea of what your pet’s ideal portrait would look like, please describe everything you’d like to see within your painting to me and I will bring your idea to life. Otherwise, simply provide me with a photo (or several!) of your pet and I will make these decisions to create the perfect portrait.

    • If you are having trouble picking a photo for your painting, it is perfectly okay and I’m more than happy to help. Email me at briannaleidyart@gmail.com with as many photos as you’d like and we will work together to choose the perfect photo for your painting.

  • Let me know what size you have in mind for your painting so I can ensure this will work well with the reference photo(s) you have chosen. If you need help picking the best size for your portrait, I am happy to help!

  • Consider the background of your painting. For paintings with a simple, painterly background, feel free to let me know if there are certain colors you would like to see in the background of your portrait. Otherwise, I will use colors that I feel best compliment your pet. For detailed backgrounds (an environment of sorts, such as a field, grass, couch, dog bed, etc), I can use the background within your photo as reference or I can combine multiple reference photos if you would like your pet to be in a different environment than what is shown in the photo. Again, I can omit most details found in your photo that you would not like to be in your painting.

  • I will let you know approximately when your painting should be completed. Due to the nature of oil paintings, the completion date is an estimate and not a guarantee (unless we have an agreed upon deadline).

  • Please ask any questions you may have!

  • After we decide on the right photo(s), size, background style, and go over any questions you may have, it is time to order! (Step 4)

4. Place Your Order Through My Site, or Contact Me When You Are Ready to Make a Payment

You may order your painting securely through my website using all major credit/debit cards, as well as Paypal. If you wish to use another form of payment, such as mailed check, Zelle, Apple Pay, or Venmo, let me know and I will gladly work with you.

I accept both full payments and 50% deposits. If you decide you want to make two payments, the first 50% reserves your spot on my schedule, and the other 50% must be made after your approval of the painting, prior to shipment. In some situations, I am willing to make a payment plan for you if you feel like you would benefit from breaking the payment down further. I require at least a 25% non-refundable deposit to hold your spot in my schedule.

  • To place your order in full, CLICK HERE to visit my full-priced order page.

  • To place a 50% deposit, CLICK HERE to visit my half-deposit order page.

Please note that no paintings will be shipped until the full balance has been paid.

5. What to Expect After Your Order Has been placed

  • If you placed your order through my website, you will recieve an automatic confirmation email letting you know your payment was received. I will also reach out within 48 hours to let you know I have recieved your order and that you are officially on my schedule.

  • Most of my clients prefer to just see the painting once it has been completed. If your painting is complex, or if you would simply like to receive progress photos, I can send them to you as I work on your piece. Most of my paintings are painted in three layers— you would receive several images of each layer of the painting as I work.

  • I will send you an email when I am starting the piece, and again once the piece is completed. When the painting is completed, I will provide you plenty of photos (and often times a video) for you to review. I can make minor adjustments free of charge to your painting if needed to ensure you are 100% satisfied with the work. More on major adjustments can be found in my terms and conditions.

  • After receiving your approval, I will set the painting aside to dry for approximately 10-14 days. Once it is fully dry and any outstanding balances have been paid (if applicable), I will varnish the painting for its protection. 1-2 days after varnishing, I will ship the painting to you, fully insured. I use USPS Priority mail for small-medium pieces, and UPS Ground for larger pieces. I will email you the tracking information as soon as it is on its way to you.

Please never hesitate to check in on the progress of your painting!

I do my absolute best to keep everyone updated regularly, but if you would like an update before hearing from me, I am happy to provide you one.
